2024 VFW HIGHLIGHTS

VFW Highlights – 2024

  • Eagle Scout Projects

    • Mike Grabowski completed his Eagle Scout project by cleaning and painting the entire exterior of our building, with the help of fellow scouts and volunteers.

    • Jacob Stevens revitalized the Pavilion for his Eagle Scout project, including fresh paint and replacing rotted wood, again with assistance from fellow scouts and volunteers.

  • Veterans Outreach Program

    • Held every Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the hall, this program—first of its kind in the nation when launched here last year—continues to be a tremendous success.

  • Annual Veterans Breakfast

    • With generous donations and volunteer support, we served over 120 guests during this year’s breakfast.

  • Wreaths Across America

    • In our second year participating, the program was once again a great success. Thanks to your donations and volunteer efforts, we placed wreaths on Veterans’ graves and removed them after the New Year.

  • Facility Improvements

    • Two new furnaces were installed in the Banquet Hall.

    • The Club/Canteen welcomed new co-managers, Heather and Whitney.

  • Community Involvement

    • Our club, along with Boy Scout Troop 58, completed our annual spring cleanup of our adopted road—from the red caboose in Mars toward the blinker light, then north to where the railroad tracks cross Mars–Evans City Road.

    • We held our annual Flag Retirement Ceremony to respectfully honor and retire worn flags, with assistance from Boy Scout Troop 58.
